Really great job! Here from youtube, very impressed with how far you came in just 25 days. I love the animations and how you were able to incorporate the theme into the mechanics. Such a great highscore game, something id expect from a seasoned indie dev in the amount of time you had.
If you decide to make more games in the future, ill def check em out!
I finished watching Jonas's video some minutes ago, and afterward I had to play this game. :D
My high score is 42 48! :) There was also a really tricky spot in my first run-through where I had a gangster car on BOTH SIDES of my sidewalk! D:
Fortunately, they were traveling at different speeds, so I was able to deflect their bullets with my indestructible newspaper! :D
The grandpa character looks great, and his dash is PERFECT! :D Grandpa's voice acting is also very nice. :)
The chill music almost seems like an odd choice, just because I feel like if I'd seen this game made by someone else, they would've used music that was more frenetic/frantic/stressful — which, admittedly, would also fit — but you're just a grandpa on his way to the supermarket; you're in no hurry, so I feel like the chill vibes are actually a great choice. :) I also feel like it helps soften the blow from frequent Game Overs, making them feel a lot less stressful/devastating when you managed to get a huge score (at least, it does for me). I think the music choice makes this game more unique, too. I like it! :)
Using a newspaper — a standard-issue item for old men! :) — to shield yourself from the occasional gangsters' fire is a nice touch as well.
Also: shoutouts to the car horns; that one long HONNNNNNNNNNNNNK in particular. XD
The sunset background is also quite a nice cityscape, showing the rest of civilization off in the distance; reachable if only Grandpa could go westward… But the supermarket's just across the streets; I'm sure it's not too much farther…! :)
tl;dr: fun game! :D I very much enjoyed it! I'll probably be back to play it again pretty soon: Grandpa's gotta go grocery shopping! :)
Thanks for all the positive feedback! My highscore is 87, I'm pretty proud of it :D
Actually, at first I had pretty actiony music, which gave the game a whole different vibe which I didn't dislike as well, but for the reasons you gave I just preferred the more relaxed music.

Very good game, especially when grandpa dashes.
Clear witness that polish and execution is far more important than brilliant ideas and mind binding mechanic.
I'm happy to hear you think it's polished ^^
relaxing game
thank you :)
